Data Science and Data Engineering: Training in Multidisciplinary Teams

This fall, Young Mavericks growth is accelerating, with the hiring of a dozen new trainees – in one fell swoop. Half of them will soon start with our fourth Data Science program; the other half will participate in our first Data Engineering program. They will not only learn the tricks of their trade, but also how to collaborate on scalable insights and models throughout their traineeship. Meet Robert: Bringing Design Thinking to Data Science Projects

I come from an entrepreneurial family so pursuing a business background with a focus on change management was a natural way for my professional and personal worlds to converge. A few years ago, I started exploring various books and examples of Design Thinking. This was also when the Lean Startup and the first contemporary corporate innovators were coming to the foreground. This background, a mix of events and interests, inspired me to start with my business partner our own company in Design Thinking training and supervising Design Sprints. Design Thinking is a great example of a no-nonsense attitude. During the workshops and training I can do what I like best: combining my academic background and professional expertise with helping people while gaining experience in new knowledge and tools.

Case Study War Child: Can’t Wait to Learn

Young Mavericks, like War Child Holland, is based in Amsterdam, and also like War Child, we do not see ourselves simply as Amsterdammers; we are world citizens responsible for each other regardless of geographies. Young Mavericks began as a mix of human resources, sociology, data science and engineering, machine learning and UX-design applied to future-proof the longevity between talent and organizations. Our company has grown as we assist a diverse number of missions by engineering data analysis through machine learning. One of these partnerships was with War Child’s Can’t Wait to Learn Team as they work to improve the education gap in conflict affected areas.
